For those of you who do not know me too well will not know the fact that even though I generally do not believe in New Years Resolutions, I had decided to go ahead and decide to do one within the last week of 2011.
While everyone was making plans to lose weight, being more social and making lists to either read more books or see more movies I decided to approach my resolution with a bit of a twist.
I decided that for a whole year that I would collect newspapers everyday, and all the major news stories which were featured within the newspaper (or ones that caught my eye) I would paste them within an A4 sized diary. The main reason why I decided to do this, is mainly because there are many many events (tragic and uplifting) that happens all around the world almost everyday and when it comes to the end of the year forget a majority of it. So I wanted to see, what would happen if I collected all this information for a whole year. Believe me when I say that I really had no idea what I was about to face ahead of me.
One thing that I realised while looking for articles each and everyday to put into my 2012 diary to look back on, that it was very depressing. Tragedy throughout the world, people suing one another, deaths, murders, violence every where, and don't get me started on all the political debates there were each an everyday. So with 2012 done and dusted, I've decided to make another resolution for myself for the year 2013 that wasn't so depressing.
For 2013 I've decided to take a photo everyday and make a small story (I promise I'll try to make it a small story) of things that I do each and everyday that makes me laugh, smile, happy... you name it. Something positive!
So to start off for the first day of the year 2013 with my very first picture, it is a photo of a page within the 2012 diary. As depressing as it was looking for articles and reading on a lot of stories which effected so many peoples lives. The one thing that I learnt from it all is that we as a race pick ourselves up and move on, despite how bad things can get.
And it was also a very big accomplishment for me. Being able to see something that I stuck with for a whole year in it's finished form. Yes it's no medal or saving world hunger. But it did mean a lot to me and I'm glad I was able to stick through it!
