Wow! What a huge day it was today! First off, I didn't end up going to sleep until midnight. As I had some last minute packing, and rechecking to do before I could be content and eventually go to sleep. Even when I headed off to bed last night I still felt wide awake, and ended up watching the latest episode of Arrow before I could really call it a night.
I woke up at about quarter to 5 in the morning, as Frank was heading off to work at that time. Not long after he left I heard both mum and my phone go off at the same time. So I quickly got up and got ready and did the very last bits of packing before I then gave Howard his medicine for the day and said my goodbyes to him. Mum than dropped me off at my Auntie Josie's place where Nathalie and Uncle Leli was staying. We had a quick cup of coffee and some biscuits before we took off and mum dropped both Nathalie and I at the station where we caught the train to the domestic airport.
Once we arrived at the Virgin check in - as I didn't have a printer and couldn't check in from home - we were in the queue for over an hour! I mentioned to Nathalie that the only thing that annoys me about queues like this, is when it is your turn everything runs smoothly and the whole process would only take a few minutes. But we noticed that people who were being checked in couldn't understand English so they had friends on phones who was translating for them. While we waited we also saw a couple of women about to start to fight as one woman pushed in!
Once all that was done, we quickly had a bite to eat for breakfast and went on a search for some hiking boots for Nathalie as she forgot to bring hers. Unfortunately, that store that we all assumed was there is actually at the international airport and not the domestic. So we then headed to our gate number 42! Only to find out that the flight had be delayed for just over an hour.
Despite all the hiccups in the morning, we were all pretty excited once we boarded the plane as we both pretty keen to get things started. We took a video footage of us both in the plane, but I didn't notice until afterwards that an older lady video(?) boomed us! And she was looking straight at the camera as well. We had ordered some food on the plane, which we both got complimentary... apparently little to both Nathalie and my knowledge it was both our birthdays.
We eventually arrived at Ayers Rock at a little past midday and taken to our hotel room. We saw many great views of Uluru. Especially from the plane! When we checked into our hotel room we noticed that our window was facing Uluru...except that there is some shrubbery in the way.
We even got to do a bit of stargazing after the BBQ as well, but with it being cloudy we didn't get to see all the billions and billions of stars you would usually see. We headed back to the hotel afterwards as we have to leave about 5am to view Uluru during sunrise! This is going to be a little challenging I think!
