Was a little bit of a struggle getting up this morning, but not as bad as yesterday. Thinking the post holiday blues are finally disappearing. There's nothing like work to snap you back into reality, to remind us all that there is a job to be done and we need to get paid to we can then pay our bills. Which reminded me of a quote which I read that was said by the Dalai Lama.
"Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. Then he is so anxious about the future that he doesn't enjoy the present: the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."
Which reminded me that we all need to have a bit of fun in our life, and to remember to have work and life balance despite everything that goes on in our lives.
When I got into work I bumped into a friend of mine Jaclyn who was showing Jia and I some jewellery and handbags that she has. She is about to start her own business and is in the process of creating a Facebook page to start selling these. I was eyeing the small handbag that she is selling, and even the long necklace look pretty amazing as well.
I went to my desk to get stuck into my emails. The only unfortunate thing about being away for a week is that work piles up on you, but in this instance it didn't get too much as Gloria helped me out while I was gone, so I didn't have too much when I got back yesterday. Though there were quite a few emails which I decided to get my hands on and focus for most of the day.
When it was lunch time, Gloria and I decided to go to our usual spot across the road within Darling Park when we noticed that the whole inside was being renovated. So a lot of the area was closed off. When we went up to escalator to get a bite to eat, we saw that the place was closed! So we headed back towards Town Hall station and just got a subway wrap. According to the signs within Darling Park, the building will be in renovation mode for a few months. So it looks as though my last few months with Flight Centre, I won't be able to enjoy my lunches within the park.
The rest of the day went smoothly. I decided to shift my focus from emails to invoices and got a lot done. It still amazes me how invoices are missed on a monthly basis, and it's either just from some people forgetting to send them in or details weren't provided to us. I was also informed that there will be a lunch on tomorrow which people had to put their names down, as Lorena a coworker will be leaving us on Thursday. Everyone had to put their names down by Friday, but since I wasn't at work all last week I wasn't able to put my name down. So I asked her managed if I was still able to join, and luckily enough I was squeezed in.
Nothing much happened for the rest of the day, though I did receive a text message from mum saying that Howard was singing his little heart out! I'm so very happy that he has got his singing voice back! I may even spoil the little bird and get him a new cage. We'll see how things go though.
