1st of February 2013

A new month has begun! I originally thought I would start off every new month blog with a recap of what happened the previous month. Even when I thought that if I went ahead with that idea that it may be a little too much. Plus the whole idea why I'm writing a blog and taking a photo of everyday is to see the good in everyday and not to look back at history. Which is a great idea especially after the fantastic day that I've had today.

I started off the day after heading to work, by messaging a friend of mine who does amazing articles within his blog about the whole Mundine debacle that has been going on for a while now. I had asked him if he ever considered writing about Mundine especially since my friend B knows a lot more about boxing than I ever could. He suggested that it was probably best not to write anything about it, as the media has already jumped on the bandwagon about the whole issue so any opinion that he could give most likely has been said before. Which got me thinking, and I realised he was right, and it is probably best to write about something that hasn't been going on within the media for the longest time.(http://bernd2acrisp.blogspot.com.au/)

It was a pretty relaxed day at work today, and it was also mufti day! Nothing better than going to work in casual gear, especially on a Friday. It makes the day go so much quickly and more enjoyable. Since it was the first of the month, there wasn't much we could really do but answer a bunch of emails, and also because it was the first working day of the month, the whole accounts team got together for morning tea. We do this once a month as a way to step away from our work for about half an hour and catch up with other people within other teams.

The rest of the working day went by pretty quickly, and before you know it... it was already 5pm when I usually head off home. Today I stayed back a little longer as I was catching up with a few friends of mine and heading to the IGN Beta Black Select Awards which were being held at the Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour. That I had won tickets to back on Wednesday. Since it had already started to raining a few hours earlier, the trek to the Museum wasn't an especially nice one with all our shoes soaking wet! The gusts of winds didn't help either.

When we got there they have a bunch of gifts which ranged from t-shirts and posters, to badges and DVD cases. There was already a bunch of people lining up for the free drinks, and the only soft drinks which they had was the new Mountain Dew energy drink, which didn't taste too badly even though I'm not a fan of Mountain Dew. We also had meals which everyone had a large serving each. You had a choice of either burger and chips or fish and chips. I went with the burger and chips, and wow... I never thought I could ever get full from looking at a burger, but this burger had that effect on me. The meat patty inside was very thick and looked to be about 5 Maccas meats stacked up on one another. Even had bacon and cheese inside it as well!! *insert Homer drool here*

There was also an award ceremony at about 8pm, for the best of 2012. Ranging from The Walking Dead game, Halo 4, Mass Effect 3. I even got to have my photo taken with one of the developers of Mass Effect 3 which won the award for Best Audio Design and Best Aussie-Made Game.

Afterwards Jorge and I started to walk around and look and even play a game. It's been a while since I've been into the whole gaming thing, so holding a controller felt a little strange to me. But as all my gaming fighting skills is basically push random buttons till I hit something, I got use to it very quickly. In the Nintendo section, Jorge even got asked to do an interview for them. I couldn't quiet hear what questions or even what were the answers as there was a lot of noise within the background.

Then we both went around getting photos of the many characters that were walking about the area. From Master Chief...

To Mario...who gave me a hug, went on his knees and drew a love heart in the air for me. Very sweet!

To Miss Tomb Raider herself, Lara Croft.

It ended up being a fantastic night, and I was glad that Jorge and Sandra asked me to enter the competition to try to win tickets to this event. Also very happy that Jia took time away from her very busy schedule to come with us also :)

I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish my good friends Jorge and Sandra a very happy 5th wedding anniversary! Congratulations to the both of you :)
