I cannot believe it is already Wednesday! Though after a 4 day long weekend and one day at work, it's no surprise that it is already the end of the week. Though it was another day of me waking up and not feel like going back to work. This time it wasn't about Sheba, it was more as though I don't know why I need to go back into work anymore. It's not long I have anything to keep me going back there, no purpose. People tend to go into work each and everyday as it'll help pay the bills, they enjoy it or just simply that they know that they have some sort of a future there. Now as much as I do enjoy going to work, it is now mostly about the social aspects of it. There doesn't seem a point to what I am doing will counter to anything good that will happen down the road.
Despite all these thoughts I did manage to wake up and get ready and meet my friend at the station to catch the train. When I explained this to Rocio about what I was going through, she mentioned that it was about time that I was having these sort of thoughts as everyone does go through this, but she thought I would at least go through it earlier and would want to leave soon enough and before the date that they have given me. I mentioned to her that even though I was made redundant before, this time it was a lot different, Mostly because there are only about 11 of us who were made redundant within the accounts side, and while I was with Vodafone and made redundant there, there were a lot more of us as there were two companies merging with one. So at least half the employees from both side would be made redundant.
Once I got into work I did feel a lot better, though I think it had mostly to do with helping another team out and having to focus on one major task instead of a bunch of different issues from different people. I even started to read a calender of a friend of mine while I was waiting for things to load, or wanted to rest my eyes for a minute or so away from the screen. There was one story about NASA and they they sent a rocket to take photos of the planet Venus, but when it took off it headed straight into the water and crashed. Apparently it was accidentally programmed that one simply because someone didn't put a "-" (minus) within the calculations. Which in the end cost NASA about 18 billion dollars that literally went into the ocean. It got me thinking though about the jobs we and everyone else has. Simple mistakes that we do can easily be fixed. Like typos people do that we simply ignore, or entering the wrong about that we can all fix once we find what went wrong. But to think that a simple typo which everyone missed could cost a company 18 billion dollars? That's a lot on your shoulder! Especially if you have to start it all up again. Plus imagine just finding out that it was a simple "-" that was missing!
During lunch I started to walk about the place and I needed a new book to read. I have hundreds but I had a feeling to go into a bookstore and start browsing around. I never rarely go into a bookstore and pick out a particular type of book. I usually go in there and have a bit of a wonder around and let the book choose me. It's amazing what you pick up when you don't look for something. I once went to Blacktown and had the urge to walk into a second hand bookstore and something persuaded me to walk into the back section where there were a lot of history books. I ended up coming across a book about victims from WWII within Malta and there in black and white was my great grandmothers name! Was really weird. I of course bought it and showed it to my mum when I got home.
This time my little wondering lead me to the Douglas Adam section and I ended up buying the book the Salmon of Doubt. Which has little excerpts of what Douglas Adams has written over the span of his life and it also has an introduction by Stephen Fry who was a good friend of his. I then ended up going into EB Games and asked them about the Walking Dead game that I heard was coming out soon and they told me that there are two games. One about the Dixon brothers and another one which isn't due to be released until early May. So I asked about the Dixon brother's game and they mentioned it was out already, so I bought that as well. Though I honestly do not know when I'll have time to play that!
The rest of the working day went by pretty smoothly, and managed to get a lot done again. There were a bit of issues with some invoices but nothing that was too over the top. So when it was time to head off home I had my book ready to read and it brought back a lot of memories. Especially reading the intro by Stephen Fry.
Once I got home and had some dinner, I ended up watching the Following. There weren't any big surprises on that. I think one of the major surprises is that they aren't showing it within Australia until after Easter which is a shame, since the season is almost over within the USA. Was pretty tired after watching the show and ended up going to bed.
